The famous realist french painter Courbet joined the communist insurrection known as "La Commune" in 1871 and was responsible for the art museums of Paris. After the return of order, he was jailed and fined more than he wanted to pay. The old painter found a pleasant asylum near Vevey, where he remained until his death out of reach of the french police
